I happened to notice a billboard similar to the image here at Kensington Olympia yesterday, encouraging drivers to rev their cars less and hence save on fuel (and CO2 emissions). It’s a Department for Transport campaign, and there’s a special website for it too. While I’m happy about any efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, I’m not really sure how much this is all going to help, especially as the government does not seem to have realised that it should also apply to public transport too. How about some compulsory lessons for London bus drivers to tell them how to drive smoothly without revving like hell and making the standing passengers fall over as a result?
