Up and running on Ghost

As of today, 27th January 2026, this site is running on Ghost rather than WordPress. All the posts have been moved across, and URLs ought to pretty much all work as well. If something is missing here, the old site can still be found at oldsite.jonworth.eu

Why am I doing this?

There are a few reasons.

First, I want to be able to offer some paid subscriptions for some of the content I will write in the future, and doing this with Ghost (with Stripe as payment provider) is much simpler than anything you can do in WordPress, and US based services like Substack and Patreon are not viable.

Second, I was spending more time on getting WordPress to do what I wanted than I was actually writing. So some tool that sort of gets back to the basics of writing, and gives me a solid workflow and pleasant place to write appeals strongly.

Third, MagicPages that hosts this Ghost installation - an Austrian firm with hosting in Germany and with fair prices and excellent support - seemed like a solid option to try this out. If it does not work well enough and I need more control I can then choose to self-host somewhere else.

So so far so good. Let's get this journey started!
