Apparently we should not use the term couch potato [Wikipedia definition] any more as this is giving the humble potato a bad image, according to the British Potato Council. Read more here. They are apparently mounting protests outside the offices of Oxford University Press – printers of the Oxford English Dictionary – to request the term be removed from the dictionary.The dictionary has been in the press this summer about additional works that make it into their new edition – podcast [link to Wikipedia definition] and chav. The Wikipedia definition of chav is well worth a read – seems to sum things up perfectly. Now I suspect the chav would be more likely to be a couch potato than a member of the British Potato Council…
