Problems at Sizewell B nuclear power plant were partly to blame for blackouts in the UK yesterday. Costs of nuclear decommissioning are due to soar above the £73bn already calculated, announced on Tuesday this week. So Gordon Brown states yesterday how keen he is for the UK to build new nuclear power plants. Not only is Brown’s approach wrong (as I’ve previously argued) but what happened to sensible government communications? Has the grid disappeared? No-one can have predicted the Sizewell issue, but Number 10 must surely have known about the decommissioning statement.

@jonworth As a regular Berlin-FFO commuter, I can confirm I've seen the police do a full check on the EC 40 multiple times.
@jonworth if this is the EC train that crosses from Rzepin into Germany and halts at Frankfurt Oder the checks used to be irregular but since the War started in Feb it's for every train every time. and yes they behave like utter bastards. sorry you had to experience it first hand.
