The game Nationstates that I mentioned here a few days ago is getting more and more bizarre. The main industry in Ventotenesis, my country, is the pizza delivery industry but they were on strike. So, with the future of the country at stake, what should I do? For the hell of it, I went for the Thatcherite option of crushing the strike. The result: the economy has boomed, and Ventotenesis is now a major cheese exporter in the region, making more than countries many times its size… The game is a bit extreme in its outcomes, but it takes not too much time to play and is quite amusing. The main site is here and the page for my country here.

In Hamburg findet heute ein #Fahrradkino statt (ja, das habe ich mich auch gefragt, die Liegestühle sind Platzhalter).
This strikes me as correct.
And as anyone who follows me knows, I am critical of many aspects of the way the UK is governed. But impartiality of the Civil Service is (was?) one of the genuinely good things...
I fear - and this is shared by serving civil servants - that the current government does not believe in civil service impartiality. In fact the opposite - that support for their view of the world is more important than evidence lef policy making. https://twitter.com/jillongovt/status/1291775728543989760
